A Study of Growth on the Mandible in Korean Children

Abstract
|

|
The author has studied the following about the growth and measure of 127 mandibles (male 45, female 82) in Korean children. When the author investigated their dimension, he found that as to 17 items an allometric formula y=?x+b could be applied, x representing the bigonial diameter and y, the others. In such a case, the items were classified into the following three groups which differed in their ? :
Group I: (?=1;isometry).
Bicoronoid diameter.
Group II: (? (I; negative allometry).
Bicondylar diameter, bigonial diameter, bimental diameter, condylosymphyseal length, mandibular length, ramus breadth, breadth of the incisura, symphysis height, body height, ramus height, ramus minimum height, condylar vertical height, coronoid vertical height, depth of the incisura and body thickness.
Group III: (? (o; negative allometry).
Mandibular angle.
